A pencil and the morning fog

This morning I woke up and decided to find a pencil and sketch, like I used to, with my morning coffee. No plan, no reason — just the feel of a pencil on paper again.
The fog was settled over the fields when I sat down. As I drew, it slowly cleared, and I felt part of the morning expanse — part of the open fields, the trees, the quiet that comes before anyone else is up.
It has been a real blessing to take myself off of all the US social media. Now I check the news headlines in Europe for anything emergent, then I log off. That's enough. The rest of the morning is mine.
And I am drawing and painting again.
