A balloon, a bi-plane, then the moon over the mountain

A close view of the snow-dusted summit of Mount Rainier glowing coral pink above dusky blue ridges and a row of treetops

The evening went from one thing to the next out here — first a hot air balloon drifting over the pasture, then a bi-plane coming through, and then the moon over the mountain at sunset.

The balloon took its time going past the fence line while the dogs worked on fetch and the throwing arm did its best.

The bi-plane didn't wait around for a photo, and honestly that's how it goes out here.

Then the light did the rest. The summit caught that pink evening glow, the pasture went quiet under it, and the moon came up over the ridge while the mountain was still lit.
