Jen has begun digging up the dahlia tubers

A hand holding up a fresh clump of dahlia tubers still clinging to soil, with two pink and orange dahlia flower heads lying on the grass below

Jen has begun digging up the dahlia tubers, and there will be so many next year!

Each root is a new flower — that's the whole magic of it. One clump lifted out of the ground becomes another plant, and another bloom, come summer.

They'll be kept safe through the winter and planted out again when the soil warms. We are so excited to see the garden full of them.
