Willa's Art Session

Willa's Art Session was full of music, clay, feeding the animals, and marshmallow hot cocoa.
She loaded the kiln with her own and others' work — a little white platter on the top shelf and her carved pieces on the shelf below — and peered in like she knew exactly what a firing means. Back in the camper her coconut-shell bowl took shape on the cutting board, palms still dusty from the afternoon.
Zach and Crystal brought the guitars out and played right there on the living room floor. Duke the elder dog sprawled between everyone, happy to be the middle of attention, and Willa picked up the little red ukulele and tried her hand at it — listening first, then strumming.
Out at the fence the animals came to see her: the goat up on its hind legs, the three potbellied pigs ambling over, and a misty look at Mount Rainier past the pasture. Then posing with Jen on the purple trike, with the new jacket on pup.
And to wind the whole day down, hot cocoa — with marshmallows, of course. Some sessions are about the art. This one was about the whole farm.
