Awnings unveiled — and leveling up

Eight blue painted canvas awning panels lined up in a grassy field, each bearing a hand-painted letter spelling 'art on the farm', with a wooden fence, white farmhouse and tree-covered hill behind under a blue sky with scattered clouds

With the tables moved out of the way, the awnings can finally be seen — all eight panels lined up in the field, spelling out 'Art on the Farm' for anyone passing. After weeks of painting them at angles and wondering how they'd read from the road, here they are at last, standing on their own.

It's a good feeling to step back and watch the whole word come together like that. The colors show up bright against the grass, and from a distance you can finally take in the full sign the way it was meant to be read.

And I just bought another round of paint to take it to the next level — more color, more depth, a finish that holds up to the weather out here. The first pass got the letters up; the next pass is going to make them sing.
