Driving the art cart

More fun on the farm! When an eight-year-old gets to drive the art cart, that is the highlight of the day — topping drumming, learning the guitar, and feeding the axolotls.

There's a real freedom in it for her. Out on the grass with the cart, both hands on the wheel, she feels like she's running the place. She's earned it too — she's been drumming, picking out chords on the guitar, and feeding the axolotls their worms, all in one afternoon. Then the keys to the art cart come out, and that's the moment she'll remember.

All thanks to Nanna, who sent her out here to us. What a wonderful gift — to watch a kid spend a whole day making and doing, and drive off down the field at the end of it.
