The quails have moved to their winter home

The quails have officially moved into the stable for the winter, and they love it!

Out in the open the cold was coming for them, but the stable stays warm and dry through the cold months. We set up their enclosure with soil and rocks and a little greenery, and they settled right in like it had always been home.

There is something satisfying about tucking the animals in for winter — the firewood stacked against the back wall, the stove keeping the air just warm enough, and the quails content in their corner. The fields outside can do what they like now; everyone in here is settled.
